Fashion Trends: Top 5 Winter Collegiate Looks

It is about that time when we all start creating our annual holiday wish lists and what more could you want than some of the current and upcoming collegiate trends to add to your closet?
Here are top five favorite looks of the season: Add what you like to your lists and use them as inspiration for your fashion must haves!

1. The Faux Fur Vest
Faux fur vests are being seen on college campuses everywhere due to their versatility: They can be paired with a long-sleeved shirt on warmer days or compliment a heavy sweater when the temperature gets a bit cooler. My favorite combination is to team up a vest with a simple black shirt.Your favorite pair of dark, skinny jeans. You can’t go wrong with such a simple yet polished look!

2. Colored Jeans
I bet you have noticed the influx of colored denim across your campus lately. Any pair of jeans in a shade of teal, orange or red are trending right now and are a perfect way to make an otherwise plain outfit pop! I usually couple up my jeans with a cream-colored sweater so I do not take away from the pants and add too much color to my outfit.

3. Aztec print
The Aztec print is being used on many different types of clothing lately. A cute look for winter (and something guaranteed to keep you warm on campus) is an Aztec sweater. It will be snug and cozy and will look great paired with dark jeans or jeggings.

4. Velvet Skirt
If you feel like getting a little dressed up for class, work or dinner with a friend, velvet skirts with black leggings are a rising trend that you should take full advantage of. This look is easy to transform from daywear to nightwear using different tops, jewelry and shoes so you are sure to get a lot of use out of the skirt this season.

5. Mixed Media LBD
Little black dresses are getting an upgrade thanks to the popularity of mixing different types of materials together. An LBD mixed with sequins, faux leather or lace is a perfect choice for those Friday night college parties when you suddenly do not have anything you like in your closet. I suggest wearing black wedged booties with your LBDs; they are plain enough to not take away attention from the dress and are comfortable enough to double as the shoes you wear to class!
